Which languages sound right, and which do not yet

The model knows 646 language codes. Knowing a code is not the same as sounding right. 64 languages have a voice built from a recording of someone who speaks it; the rest are read with an English accent, which means the words are right and the sound is not. This page says exactly which language is in which group.

64 languages have a listen button. Hear it first, then decide. A language without a button is still read, but we have not checked it, so we do not invite you to listen. The native-speaker voices come from the FLEURS corpus (Google, CC BY 4.0) and appear only where a speech recogniser confirmed that more than 55% of the words are read correctly in that language.
